Thanksgiving Yarn Turkey Craft Idea

Thanksgiving day is full of food, family, and usually lots of football! As a kid, it can be a bit overwhelming! Here is a fun and simple craft idea to keep the kids occupied!

Make 2 balls of yarn - 1 small, 1 large
Glue them together using a hot glue gun.
Have the kids trace their hands and cut them out. Glue them to the back of the turkey.
Cut out some turkey feet, or you can use another hand print cut out for the feet.

For this Thanksgiving craft idea you will need:
  • Nutter Butter Cookies
  • White Melting Chocolate (we used CandiQwik - it's our favorite!)
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Fruit Roll-Ups
  • Waxed Paper
My girls and I made these cute Turkey cookies this year and they loved it! It is a great way to get kids involved in the kitchen and there are plenty of opportunities for finger licking!

Melt the white chocolate in the microwave according to the package instructions.

Dip the Nutter Butter cookies into the white chocolate and place onto the waxed paper.

Add 2 mini chocolate chips to each cookie for the eyes.

Cut small triangles out of the fruit roll-ups for the turkey beaks

Cut turkey feathers out of the fruit roll-ups.

Enjoy!

This is a wonderful activity to keep kids busy - and also makes a scrumptious dessert!
-Give each child a ball of pie crust dough (can be store bought)
-Have them make it into a cute shape, either by hand or with cookie cutters.
-Brush with melted butter and have the child sprinkle the dough with cinnamon
& sugar.
-Bake in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes, or until golden brown
-Simple and so delicious!

My neighbor used to make these for all of the neighbor kids when I was little. They tasted great and left me with great memories!
